Victoria Loera Esquibel

Victoria Loera Esquibel ,94, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away on April 16, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and strength. Born in Seguin, Texas, on March 7, 1930, Victoria led a life filled with faith, family, and resilience. She married Reyes Esquibel on January 16, 1953, in Crosbyton and was known for her unwavering dedication to her family as a devoted homemaker and prayer warrior. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, enjoying hobbies such as crocheting, gardening (especially when protecting her pecans from squirrels), and cheering on her children at their sports games. Her baking and cooking skills were unrivaled, leaving a lasting impression on all who were fortunate enough to taste her creations.

In the face of adversity, Victoria stood strong and faced life's challenges with grace and courage. Her deep-rooted Catholic faith guided her every step and was a source of comfort and strength for those around her. She served as a Guadalupana and completed her journey as a cursillista where she learned how to truly serve her church and those around her. 

She is survived by her son, Lonnie Esquibel and wife Michelle of Lubbock; daughters Ofelia Esquivel and husband Robert of Lubbock, and Lydia Rodriguez of San Antonio; brothers Eduardo Loera and Victor Loera; sisters Dominga Mendoza, Maria Louisa Hinojos, and Matilda Zapata; seventeen grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Reyes Esquibel Sr., five sons Reyes Esquibel JR., Roy Esquibel, Ralph Esquibel, Rosendo Esquibel, Rene Esquibel; granddaughter Leslie Danielle Gomez; brothers Leopoldo Loera, Ramon Loera, Gertrudes Loera Jr.; sisters Anita Loera and Pauline Garcia.

Services for Victoria will be 2:00 pm Monday, April 22, 2024, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Martin Pina officiating. Burial will follow in the Idalou Cemetery under the direction of Broadway Funeral Directors. A rosary for Mrs. Esquibel will be 6:00 pm Sunday, April 21, 2024, in The Chapel of Broadway Funeral Directors with visitation starting at 2:00 pm.
