San Juanita “Juana” Rivera passed away on August 30, 2026, at the age of 74. She was born on July 8, 1952, to the late Jose and Maria Rivera in McAllen, Texas. Juana will be remembered with deep love for the warmth she brought to those around her and for the joy she found in the people and moments that mattered most.
In 2007 Juana met the love of her life Stevan Martinez, in Lubbock together they cherished nineteen loving years together. Juana was a homemaker, and she gave herself wholeheartedly to the life she built around home and family. She loved dancing and having a good time, and she brought that spirited nature to family gatherings, where her presence helped make ordinary moments feel special. She enjoyed doing word find puzzles, shopping, and collecting clothes and shoes, taking pleasure in the things that made life colorful and fun. Above all, Juana loved her family, and that love was the center of her life.
Those who knew Juana will remember a woman who enjoyed laughter, togetherness, and the simple happiness of being surrounded by the people she loved. Her life was marked by devotion to her family and by the energy and warmth she shared so freely. She leaves behind memories of celebration, comfort, and affection that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Juana’s memory will be cherished always, and her love for family will remain a lasting gift to all whose lives she touched.
She is preceded in death by her parents Jose and Maria Rivera; and a brother Jose Jesus Rivera.
She is survived by her husband Stevan Martinez of Lubbock; five brothers Enrique Roberto Rivera (Leticia), Ricardo Rivera, David Rivera (Maria), Raul Rivera and Ramiro Rivera (Yolanda) all of Lubbock; a sister Maria Diana Castro (Gilbert) of Lubbock; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Viewing and visitation for Juana will begin 10:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at The Chapel in Broadway Funeral Directors with a rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. the same evening. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 10, 2026, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Jose De Dios Gonzalez officiating. Burial will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Broadway Funeral Directors.
