Ricky Reyes, a beloved father, partner, and friend, passed away on December 18, 2025, in his hometown of Lubbock. Born on March 20, 1974, Ricky's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, laughter, and a spirit that embraced all who stood in his presence.
For many years, Ricky dedicated his career to being a Fiber Optics Installer, a trade that saw him work diligently and skillfully, giving him the opportunity to travel and see the world. However, his true legacy lies far beyond his profession. Ricky possessed a warmth that resonated deeply with everyone around him. His big heart was evident in his never-failing willingness to help anyone in need, embodying a kindness that left a lasting impression on all who met him.
Ricky was a family man at heart. He delighted in joking around with his loved ones, cooking out, and savoring moments filled with joy and laughter. His relationships with his children and grandchildren were profound, filled with love and cherished memories. He is survived by his loving partner, JoAnn Barraza; his three sons: Ricky Reyes Jr. and with his partner Candace Johnson, J. R. Rios, Isaiah Leal with wife Breann, all of Lubbock; and Julie Leal; five daughters: Alexandra Reyes, Alicia Reyes with Kyle Martinez, Ashley Perez with her husband Matthew, Haley Reyes, and Torie Infante with her husband Jorge, who will carry forward his legacy with fond memories and stories to share.
Ricky also cherished his role as a grandfather, adoring each of his twelve grandchildren, whose laughter and smiles filled his heart with joy. He is survived by his father, Johnny Reyes of Lubbock; his mother Stella Tijerina who provided him with a strong foundation of love and support throughout his life. He is also survived by his two brothers, Johnny T Reyes and Rudy Reyes, and one sister, Cathy Reyes, all of whom will surely remember him for his vibrant spirit and the countless moments they shared together.
In addition to the family that remains, Ricky is reunited in spirit with those who left us too soon. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Samantha Marie Duran; a granddaughter, Kalani Martinez; his grandson Jesiah Cabrales; his nephew Nicco An’jel Reyes; and his beloved grandparents, "Papi & Mami" Miguel and Maria Tijerina.
Ricky's love for life was also reflected in his passions, including his unwavering support for the Pittsburgh Steelers, often bringing an infectious enthusiasm to every game.
