Prisciliana Melendez

Prisciliana Melendez, 81, was born January 4, 1941, in Monterrey, MX to Reyes & Salome Melendez. She married the late Cesareo Melendez on April 20, 1961, in Monterrey and their marriage of 56 years ended only upon his death in 2017.  She enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers and plants, quilting blankets, sewing clothes for her family and embroidering. She loved riding on the tractor with her husband and was always eager to reminisce about her earlier days. Prisciliana was not afraid of hard work, whether outside in the fields or inside tending to her home, she was always there to lend a hand. Although one of her favorite past times was listening to sermons on the radio; what she loved more than anything was spending time with her eight children and grandchildren.

In the early morning of August 5, 2022, surrounded by family and all eight of her children, Prisciliana Melendez was taken from this earth in the arms of her beloved savior. Those left to cherish her memory are her three sons & daughters-in-law, Cesareo & Maria Melendez Jr. of Brownfield, David & Alicia Melendez, Noe & Jill Melendez all of Lubbock; five daughters and their husbands, Juana & Oscar San Miguel of Lubbock, Yolanda & Joe Sanchez of Meadow, Elva & Joe Cepeda of Amarillo, Emma & Scott Beasley of OK, Lili Melendez of Lubbock; twenty-two grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren.

Services for Mrs. Melendez will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, August 10, 2022, in the Chapel of Broadway Funeral Directors with Pastor Santos Gamez officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery under the direction of Broadway Funeral Directors.

Broadway Funeral Directors will host a prayer service for Mrs. Melendez at 7:00 pm Tuesday, August 9, 2022, in The Chapel led by Gerald Baldwin. Viewing and visitation will begin the same day at 9:00 am.
