Mickia Mitchell

Mickia Elizabeth Cogdell Mitchell, 91, of Lubbock joined her Lord and Savior on September 10, 2016.

She was born August 13, 1925 in Dallas to William and Carleta Cogdell and grew up in Abilene. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1942.

Mickia married the love of her life, J. Burt Mitchell, Jr. and both were active in the television and radio industry throughout the state of Texas.  Mickia was a Teaching Assistant at Texas Christian University and later worked at Texas Tech University in the Agriculture Education department.  Mrs. Mitchell was an accomplished writer for many publications including Southern Living magazine.

Mickia has lived the last 50 years in Lubbock and is best known for her love and service to people.  Everyone that knew her loved her and she will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be at Broadway Funeral Directors on September 12, 2016 from 4:00-5:00. Graveside services will be September 13, 2016 at 10:00 am in Resthaven Memorial Park, with Chris Edens of the Salvation Army and the Rev. Elizabeth Abraham of Hospice of Lubbock officiating.
