Michael Vidal Benavides Jr.

With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Michael Vidal Benavides Jr., who departed this life on July 31, 2026. Born in Tahoka, Texas on April 20, 1999.  Michael’s 27 years were filled with love, faith, and an undeniable warmth that reached everyone around him.

Michael was the beloved son of Michael & Yolanda Benavides Sr., and from a young age his gentle nature was evident to all who knew him. As a devoted father, Michael’s love found its greatest expression in his daughter, Isabel Aguilar Benavides, whose joy and laughter were constant sources of pride for him. Michael’s family circle extended with a deep and abiding bond to his brother, Malachi Benavides, as well as his sisters, Haleigh and Madison Benavides. He was a cherished grandson to Nieves Benavides Jr., Jose Liendo, and Juanita Menchaca, holding close the wisdom and kindness that each of them passed on. Though his grandmother, Isabel Alonzo Benavides, preceded him in death, her memory resonated in Michael’s heart and actions, guiding him through life’s journey.

Throughout his career, Michael worked as a painter. The satisfaction of transforming spaces and bringing color into people’s homes was a testament to his meticulous nature, artistic flare, and desire to brighten the world around him. His hands were skilled, not only with a paintbrush but also with compassion; he never hesitated to lend support or encouragement to those in need.

Michael’s life was rich with simple joys. He found peace in reading his Bible and often set out on long walks, drawing strength and comfort from both scripture and the serenity of the world outdoors. Fitness and exercise brought him satisfaction, as did the thrill of watching MMA—he admired the courage and discipline that the sport required. Music accompanied many of Michael’s days, and whether rapping or listening, it was a beat that carried him through triumphs and challenges alike. Even his love for animals shone, most notably in the time he spent raising turtles, caring for them with the same tenderness he shared with those he loved.

More than anything, Michael will be remembered for his loving, generous spirit. His willingness to help others defined him: always there with a listening ear, a supportive word, a hand reaching out in friendship or kinship. He lived in such a way that his presence made burdens lighter and joys greater.

Services for Michael will be 10:00 am Friday, August 7, 2026.  A rosary will be held 6:00 pm Thursday, August 6, 2026, in The Chapel of Broadway Funeral Directors. Viewing and visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, August 5, 2026, and Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.
