Margarita R. Montoya was born October 2, 1929 in Kenedy, Texas to Jose and Jesusa Rocha. She married Robert Montoya on May 7, 1952 in San Antonio and worked at National Linen as a feeder folder for many years. Margarita loved watching her boys play baseball and seldom ever missed a game. She loved Texas Tech Sports, was a big fan of Patrick Mahomes and singing was a favorite thing to do as well as making people laugh with her wit and humor. She loved God and was a faithful Christian who enjoyed having prayer meetings at homes. More than anything, Margarita loved and cherished her family and although most believe making tortillas is a chore; it was something she always enjoyed making for her family.
On the evening of June 1, 2020, surrounded by family, Margarita R Montoya was once again reunited with her husband of 67 years as she was called from this earth to be with her heavenly father. Those left to cherish her memory are five sons, Robert Montoya Jr. (Maria) of San Antonio, Hector Montoya of Houston, Mario Montoya (Olivia) of Lubbock, Ricky Montoya (Linda) of Lubbock, Henry Montoya (Julie) of Lubbock; two daughters, Sylvia Garcia (Daniel) and Lucy Prieto (Danny) both of Lubbock, three sisters, Luisa Rangel of Roscoe, Maria Hernandez of Dallas, Gloria Gomez of Lubbock.
She is preceded in death by two brothers, Isidro Rocha, Joe Rocha Jr.; three sisters, Elvira Trinidad, Isabel Camarillo, Refugia Rocha.
Services for Mrs. Montoya will be 2:00 pm Thursday, June 4, 2020 in The Chapel of Broadway Funeral Directors with Javi Castaneda officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery under the direction of Broadway Funeral Directors. A prayer service will be held 7:00 pm Wednesday, June 3, 2020 in The Chapel of Broadway Funeral Directors with visitation starting at 4:00 pm.
