Lucia Garcia Vidales, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished member of her community, passed away on March 21, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas. Born on December 15,1943, in Lamesa, Texas to Guadalupe & Carolina Garcia, Lucia’s life was marked by strength, dedication, and an unwavering joy that touched all who knew her.
As a young teenager, Lucia labored in the cotton fields, a testament to her hard-working spirit from an early age. Her journey of perseverance continued as she took on roles as a housekeeper in various establishments, including the Circus Inn, Lubbock Plaza, and The Holiday Inn. At the Circus Inn, her diligence and leadership shone through when she earned the position of laundry room manager. Later, she contributed her skills to Blackmon Mooring Cleaning & Restoration before retiring with honor.
Lucia was more than her work; she was a vibrant soul who found joy in the simple, profound moments of life. She loved dancing, singing in the church choir at Santa Teresita's Catholic Church, where her voice uplifted the spirits of many. Her kitchen was a place of warmth and love, where she delighted in cooking for her family. Another treasured pastime was watching western movies, a window into stories and adventures that fascinated her.
Perhaps what most vividly captures Lucia's spirit was her happiness in watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, delighting especially in the moments when she allowed them to ride her scooter. Those moments of shared laughter and joy will forever echo in the hearts of her family.
Lucia’s life was deeply rooted in family and faith. In 1960, she married Manuel Vidales Sr. in Lamesa, Texas. Their union laid the foundation of a loving family that continues to carry forward her legacy. She is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Manuel Vidales Sr.; two sons, Manuel Vidales Jr. and Ricardo Vidales; her brother, Ezekiel Vidales; her daughter-in-law, Virginia Vidales; and her granddaughter, Noemi Vidales.
She is survived by her two sons and their wives, Luis & Rosie Vidales, Antonio Vidales & Criselda Arguijo; her daughter, Cynthia Vidales; three brothers, Porfirio Perez (with wife Mary), Tomas Garcia (with wife Lisa), and Lupe Garcia; two sisters, Estella Briones and Graciela Garcia Gonzales; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a devoted extended family of nieces and nephews.

Burial will follow in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Broadway Funeral Directors. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm, Thursday, March 26, 2026, in The Chapel of Broadway Funeral Directors with visitation starting at 1:00 pm.
