With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Joe Campos, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, who left this world on May 19, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas. Born on January 25, 1949, to the late Alejandro & Velia Campos in Natalia, Texas, Joe lived a life marked by tireless dedication, unwavering faith, and a spirit of generosity that touched all who knew him.
Joe was a man of quiet strength and deep devotion. A loving and faithful man of God, he was a man of few words but a heart overflowing with love. Throughout his life, he taught his children the vital importance of work ethics, leading by example with a steady hand and unwavering resolve. His career was varied and filled with industrious endeavors; primarily, he worked as a roofer, but Joe was known far beyond that label. A jack of all trades, he was an all-around handyman, capable and willing to tackle any project with skill and determination. He sold potatoes and watermelons, reconditioned pallets, bricks, and concrete blocks for resale, and proudly owned and operated a bobtail truck with a dump for various services. His hands built more than structures; they built a legacy of hard work and resilience.
While Joe’s work ethic defined much of his life, he also cherished the moments spent with his family. He loved playing bingo and took joy in annual trips to Schlitterbahn and Six Flags, creating joyful memories with his loved ones. His family was his cornerstone, the wellspring of his happiness and pride.
Joe is survived by his devoted wife, Elvia Campos; his three sons, Joe Albert Campos with wife Gloria, Victor Campos with wife Nikki, and Jeremy Campos with wife Stephanie; his two daughters, Dora Carrillo with husband Richard, Lorissa Ramos with husband Eli. He also leaves behind three sisters, Erma Alcorta, Gloria Elias with husband Eddie, and Olga Montaño with Heraclio. Joe was a proud grandfather to twelve grandchildren, a great-grandfather to three, and a great-great-grandfather to two precious little ones who will carry his legacy forward with love.
Joe was preceded in death by his beloved parents, seven brothers—Ramiro Campos, Henry Campos, Jesus “Chuy” Campos, Gilbert Campos Sr., Alejandro Campos Jr., Francisco Campos, and Armando Campos; one sister, Ernestina Torrez and a brother-in-law, Jose Alcorta Sr.. While these family members have gone before him, their memories remain alive in the hearts of those who loved him.
Services for Mr. Campos will be 10:00 am Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Martin Pina officiating. Burial will follow in The City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Broadway Funeral Directors. A rosary for Mr. Campos will be at 6:00 pm Tuesday, May 26, 2026, in The Chapel of Broadway Funeral Directors with visitation starting at 11:00 am.
Joe Campos’s journey may have ended, but the lessons he imparted, the love he shared, and the example he set endure in the lives of all who knew him. May his soul find eternal peace, and may those who mourn him find comfort in the memories of a truly remarkable man.
