Jim Lara

December 31, 1944 — February 10, 2024

Lubbock

Jim S. Lara, born December 31,1944 in Hearne, TX peacefully passed with his family by his side on Saturday, February 10, 2024 in Lubbock. He was the beloved husband of Juanita Lara, and a cherished father to Henry (son) & Esmeralda Lara, Lori (daughter) & Nic LoCascio, and Jimmy Lara (son) & Tina Delgado.  Jim was also a proud grandfather to Daphne, Ruben, Nicole, Angelica, Stephen, Sarah, Ricardo, Cindy, Jimmy III (BJ), Mercedes, Jesus, Mariah, Destiny, Vicente, Leonard, Haley and Ryley. His legacy extended to great-grandchildren: Isaiah, Cielo, Jonathan, Jariah, Zachary, Jacob, Niko, Cohen, Aven, Cannon, Mason, Liliana, Cataleya, Jayla, Jonah, Sophia, Matthias, Sebastian, Silas and Daniella. He will also be remembered by his best friends Andy, David, and Troy.

Jim was the owner of R&B Bearings and Hydraulics, dedicating his professional life to his craft. In his spare time, he loved reading books about history and autobiographies. The knowledge he learned through the history and lives of others is what motivated him to be the man he came to be. He also enjoyed camping, horse racing, traveling, and collecting vintage wines. Just like books, each wine could tell a story of its beginnings through its taste and aroma. Jim also had a love for music with a very special interest in Elvis Presley.  His loyalty was expressed through memorabilia he collected throughout the years. More than all, Jim loved spending time with his family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Teofilo and Elena Solis Lara; his sisters, Angie Sanchez and Francesca Lara; his granddaughter, Lily Lara and his great grandson, Preston Summers.

Along with his immediate family, Jim is also survived by his brothers, Abram, Tom, and Adrian Lara, as well as sisters Rosa Llanas, Cathy Galindo and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jim's loyal companion, his cherished dog Rusty, was a constant source of joy in his life. Rusty's unwavering companionship added a special warmth to Jim's days, and their bond will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.

Jim's memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
