Faustino Diaz, 95, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at his residence. Services for Mr. Diaz will be 10:00 am Monday, September 12, 2016 at The Chapel of Broadway Funeral Directors with Father Martin Pina officiating. Burial will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Broadway Funeral Directors. A rosary will be held 6:30 pm Sunday, September 11, 2016 at Broadway Funeral Directors.
Faustino was born September 5, 1921 in Yorktown to Francisco & Valencia Diaz. He married Lucia Garza on February 16, 1944 in Yorktown and worked as a farm laborer for most of his life. He served his country proudly in War World II while in the Army and loved the outdoors as he enjoyed working on his yard and fishing when he had the chance. He also enjoyed collecting antiques and spending time with his family and grandchildren most of all.
He is survived by his wife, Lucia Diaz of Lubbock; four sons, Johnny Diaz, Faustino Diaz Jr., Manuel Diaz all of Lubbock, Francisco Diaz of California; five daughters, Rosa Diaz of Levelland, Gloria Garcia of Michigan, Ysenia Groth of Michigan, Yirma Aguilar of Lubbock, Linda Diaz of Lubbock; three brothers, Justino Diaz of Corpus Christi, Juan Diaz of San Antonio, Porfirio Diaz of San Antonio; two sisters, Petra Deleon of Lubbock, Vicenta Garcia of San Antonio; thirty grandchildren; sixty-three great grandchildren; twelve great great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by five sisters, Emelia Diaz, Trine Diaz, Dimas Diaz, Jesusita Diaz, Lydia Diaz; two brothers, Domingo Diaz, Lasaro Diaz.
