Lubbock

Eulalia "Eva" Calvillo, beloved mother, devoted grandmother, and cherished friend to many, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, in Lubbock, Texas. She was born on April 21, 1940, in Poteet, TX to Ysidro & Erlinda Alvarado. She married Juan Calvillo on August 12, 1954, in Atascosa County and led a remarkable life filled with love, dedication, and countless memories that will forever be treasured by those who knew her.

Eva's professional journey was one of compassion and service. She dedicated 25 years of her life as an O.R. Technician at Lynn Country Hospital before managing the Calvillo Funeral Chapel in Tahoka for many years. Her commitment to caring for others extended beyond her work as she touched the lives of many families during difficult times.

Those who had the privilege of knowing Eva remember her as an extraordinary mother who effortlessly balanced the responsibilities of raising her children and showing unwavering support for them. Her ability to make life seem easy inspired all those around her.  In her free time, Eva found joy in various hobbies and interests. She loved dancing, gardening with her green thumb giving her the ability to care beautifully for her yard and roses and attending her grandchildren's events with a particular passion for sports. Walking and exercising brought her joy, yet nothing ever compared to the time she spent with her family.

One of Eva's proudest accomplishments was her love for travel. She explored various destinations like Italy, Washington D.C., Las Vegas, and many others, creating memories that enriched her life.  Even more so was her love for the Church.  As a devout catholic, Eva was a long-time member of St Jude Catholic Church where she served under the Women's Organization. She was also a Guadalupana, accomplished Cursista and found love within the scriptures of her Bible she loved to read.

Eva is preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband; Juan Calvillo (Aug 2, 1984); three brothers, Manuel Alvarado, Ysidro Alvarado Jr., Juan Alvarado Sr.; one sister, Estella Rodriguez, and one granddaughter, Krystle Calvillo.

She is survived by a loving family who will continue to honor Eva's legacy through their cherished memories: three sons, Johnny Calvillo and Sandy, Richard Calvillo, Daniel "Danny" Calvillo and Rosalinda all of Lubbock; four daughters and their husbands, Delia & Juan Luna of Tahoka, Odilia & R.C. Calderon, Diana & Roy Solorzano, Eloise & Freddie Garcia all of Lubbock; one brother, Joe Calvillo and wife Clara of Tahoka; two sisters, Helen Saldana and husband Paul of Tahoka, Florinda Rodriguez and husband Eddie of San Antonio; sixteen grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.

Those who will have the honor of carrying Eva to her final resting place are her grandsons, Jonathan Luna, Stephen Solorzano, Jac Calvillo, Thomas Calvillo, Randy Calderon and Cameron Calvillo.
