Elvia Esparza Builtron

April 13, 1931 — November 13, 2025

Lubbock

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Elvia Esparza Builtron, who departed this world on November 13, 2025, in Lubbock, Texas. Elvia, born on April 13, 1931, in Guadalajara, Mexico to Adolfo & Beatrice Esparza, was the beloved wife of the late Federico Builtron, whom she married in 1950 in Matamoros, Mexico. Their love story, which spanned decades, is a true testament to devotion and companionship.

For many years, Elvia dedicated herself to her role as a food preparer at Abuelos Restaurant, where her culinary skills and warm spirit contributed to many cherished meals and fond memories for all who dined there. Her passion for cooking extended into her home, where the aromas of family recipes filled the kitchen, bringing comfort and joy to her loved ones.

A woman of many talents, Elvia found joy in crocheting, sewing, and watching her favorite novelas. She had a special love for collecting teacups, thimbles, and unique ceramics—each piece a reminder of her enduring curiosity and appreciation for beauty. In her quieter moments, she could be found tending to her plants, sitting at her window, watching all the UPS drivers pass by, or spending time on her iPad, reflecting her lifelong love for learning and connection.

Elvia's greatest treasure was her family. She is survived by five sons and their wives: Homer and Mary Builtron of Lubbock, Fred Builtron of Arlington, Paul and LeAnne Builtron of Arlington, Arthur and De'Ann Builtron of Lubbock, Armando and Francis Builtron of Lubbock; five daughters, Elia Ornelas, Janie Builtron, Leticia Bonds, Sylvia Barron, and Beatriz Builtron, all of Lubbock; twelve grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; ninety-two great-great-grandchildren; and twelve great-great-great-grandchildren. Each one carried a special spot in her heart, and she took immense pride in watching them grow and flourish.

Elvia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Federico Builtron, and one daughter, Juanita Builtron. Their memory continues to shine brightly within the hearts of their family, who will forever cherish the lessons of love, kindness, and resilience that Elvia imparted throughout her life.
