Dickie Frausto, a devoted father, brother, and friend, passed away on January 18, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas, at the age of 78. Born on October 8, 1947, to Vicente & Petra Frausto in Austin, Texas, Dickie lived a life rich with love, achievement, and a passion for his family and work. After graduating from Lubbock High School in 1965, Dickie would embark on a journey filled with firsts, love and a commitment to family.
For over 30 years, Dickie served as an investigator for the Texas Workforce Commission, dedicating his career to helping others navigate the complexities of employment and workforce challenges. His commitment to his profession was matched only by his love for learning, having earned his bachelor's degree in general business from Texas Tech University in 1983, becoming the first in his family to graduate from college. This remarkable achievement paved the way for his three daughters—Daphne, Denice, and Deirdra—to follow in his footsteps, earning their own degrees, including a Bachelor's, a Master's, and a PharmD.
Dickie's talents extended beyond his professional life; he was a gifted poet and writer, with a creative spirit that touched the hearts of many. He found joy in the simplicity of life, often spending time in his garden or cooking delightful meals for his family. He had a particular love for fishing, enjoying tranquil moments by the water, and he was a fervent supporter of Texas Tech Football and the Dallas Cowboys, sharing countless joyful moments cheering for his teams.
His heart was filled with pride when it came to his family, and he cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. He is survived by his three daughters and their husbands, Daphne & Carl Masson of Lubbock, Denice & Will Prince of Frisco, and Deirdra Frausto of Lubbock. He is also remembered fondly by his brother, Eddie Frausto, his sisters Amy Alvarado, Nadine Manriquez, and Carrie Crowley with her husband Alan, as well as his beloved grandchildren, Vicente and Veronica Masson, who brought him immeasurable joy.
Dickie is preceded in death by his brother, Adam Frausto, and his sister, Natalia Harris, who will forever hold a place in the hearts of those who knew them.
Friends and family will gather to honor Dickie’s life at a memorial gathering at 2:00 pm, Friday, January 23, 2026, in The Chapel of Broadway Funeral Directors. As they come together to celebrate his remarkable legacy, they will be reminded of the love and laughter he shared, and the profound impact he has left behind. Family invites everyone who knew and loved Dickie to come and share stories and good memories spent with their beloved father.
