Delia DeLeon Banda

Nov 16, 1950 — Jun 30, 2026

Lubbock

With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life so deeply cherished, we announce the passing of Delia DeLeon Banda on June 30, 2026, at the age of 75. She was born on November 16, 1950, in Tahoka, Texas, to the late Serapio and Anita DeLeon.

She married Robert Banda on March 9, 1969, in Tahoka cherishing forty years of a loving marriage before he preceded her in death on February 14, 2010.

Faith was the guiding light of Delia’s life. A devoted Catholic, she attended church with steadfast commitment, drawing strength and serenity from her beliefs. Her faith was not only practiced in prayer but also in the compassion she showed each day to those around her.

Delia’s hands were seldom still—she found joy in crocheting and sewing, creating beauty and comfort for friends and family. A wonderful cook, she took special pride in making tamales, filling her home with the irresistible aromas of tradition and togetherness. Gathering at her table was more than a meal; it was an expression of her love and the memories made in her kitchen will be treasured by all who shared them.

She was also an enthusiastic supporter of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Tech Football Teams, finding delight and camaraderie in cheering them on, season after season: but it was Delia’s devotion to family that will be most remembered—her willingness to help anyone in need, her constant presence at family gatherings, her comforting words and open arms. Her love was both steady and boundless, marking the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Her passing is felt deeply, yet her legacy remains vivid in the countless acts of kindness and moments of joy she created. Those who loved her will always remember her selflessness, her laughter, and the way she brightened every room she entered.

Along with her husband and her parents, Delia is also reunited with her son, Robert Banda Jr; five brothers, Juan Deleon, Lino T. Deleon, Roberto Deleon, Felix Deleon, Larry Deleaon; three sisters, Maria Deleon, Dominga Deleon, Lydia Gutierrez.

Survivors include two sons, Joseph Banda with wife Corina, Billy Jo Banda; one sister, Eloisa Sustaita of Lubbock; eleven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren
