Christian Humberto Leyva, a beloved husband, brother, and friend, passed away on June 17, 2026, in his hometown of Lubbock, Texas. Born on February 20, 1977, to Humberto & Felicitas Leyva, Christian’s life was a testament to dedication, family, and community, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Christian’s early years were spent immersed in the hardworking values instilled by his family. As a child, he worked alongside his brothers and father for Triple L Yard Service, a family-owned business nurtured by his father. This upbringing forged a strong work ethic that remained with him throughout his life and helped make his mark as a fuel dispatcher for Seminole Butane where he worked for many years.
A proud graduate of Slaton High School, class of 1995, Christian was a man of many passions. His love for motorcycles was well-known among his friends and family. His enthusiasm wasn’t limited to the open road; he was also a dedicated fan of the San Francisco 49ers, often sharing the thrill of the game with those around him. Music was a constant companion, bringing joy and comfort, while playing pool offered moments of camaraderie and friendly competition. Above all, Christian treasured spending time with his family and friends, nurturing bonds that provided strength and happiness in every season of life.
Christian’s faith was a cornerstone of his identity. As a long-time member of San Ramons Catholic Church, he faithfully served as a lector, imparting words of hope and inspiration to his community. His commitment extended further as a devoted member of the Knights of Columbus, where his spirit of service and fellowship stood as a beacon to others.
Christian’s family was the center of his world. He is survived by his wife, Veronica Marie Leyva of Slaton, his brothers, Xavier G. Leyva with wife Lesley of Slaton, and Dorian Bartolo Leyva with wife Karina of Lubbock, as well as his sister Delores Leyva Portillo with husband Amado of Woodrow. His warmth and kindness touched a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and godchildren, all of whom carry his memory in their hearts.
Preceding him in death were his cherished parents, Humberto and Felicitas Leyva, and his brother Zamar Leyva, who passed away in 1975. Their memories remain a lasting part of Christian’s story and continue to inspire those who knew him.
