December 9, 1958 — April 17, 2025

Lubbock

Cathleen Gilbreth, a beloved sister and cherished friend, quietly passed away on April 17, 2025, in her hometown of Lubbock, Texas. Born on December 9, 1958, in Oceanside, Ca to Johnie & Freda Gilbreth, Cathleen brought joy to the lives of those around her with her warm spirit and gentle heart. Cathleen moved to Lubbock in 1972, quickly planting her roots and her love for the community flourished.

Cathleen had a remarkable affinity for her feline companions and found great comfort in their presence. Whether it was enjoying a peaceful afternoon at home or taking leisurely trips to the lake, she wholeheartedly embraced the simple pleasures in life. A 1976 Monterey High School graduate, Cathleen's passion for fun and laughter was evident in her cherished memories spent with family and friends whether it was at the many concerts attended or as she watched and cheered for Texas Tech Red Raiders Football. This tapestry of moments created by Cathleen will surely last in the hearts of all who loved her.

In her professional life, Cathleen was an integral part of the Joyland Amusement Parks family, where she dedicated many seasons working at the concession stands. It was here that her infectious smile and zest for life endeared her to countless visitors, as she made each experience a little bit sweeter. She also worked at Rosen's Warehouse for many years and was formerly married to Tracey Terrell, with whom she had a special relationship for many years.

Cathleen is survived by her loving brothers: Robert Gilbreth of Lubbock, Mark Gilbreth of Virginia Beach, and Fred Gilbreth and his wife Erin of New York. In addition to her brothers, she leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews who were fortunate to know the warmth of her affection.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnie and Freda Gilbreth, who instilled in her the values of kindness, compassion, and a love for family that she carried throughout her life.

As we remember Cathleen, we celebrate the life she lived—filled with laughter, love, and a genuine appreciation for the little things. Her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched, and her legacy will continue to shine brightly through the loving memories she has left behind. Rest in peace, dear Cathleen; you will be deeply missed.
