Antonio Martinez Jr., lovingly known as "Tony," passed away on the morning of Saturday, May 16, 2026 at the age of 61. He was born October 3, 1964, in Lubbock to the late Antonio Sr. and Martha Martinez. Tony’s life was a testament to hard work, family devotion, and the simple joys that bring warmth to our hearts.

Tony dedicated many years to working with Barajas Construction, earning respect and admiration from colleagues and friends alike for his unwavering commitment and strong work ethic. His hands helped build not just structures, they built a legacy marked by dedication and pride in his work. But beyond his professional life, Tony was a man who truly understood the value of friendship and community.

He treasured the moments spent in the company of his family and friends, sharing laughter and stories over sizzling bar-b-ques, where the air was always thick with the aroma of good food and heartfelt camaraderie. Tony also found joy in cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, embracing each game as a time to connect and celebrate with those he loved.

Antonio "Tony" Martinez Jr.’s life was a harmonious blend of hard work, devotion to family, and the pursuit of joy in everyday moments. He leaves behind a legacy etched in the hearts of those who knew him—a gentle reminder of the power of kindness, laughter, and love. As we remember Tony, we honor a man who truly lived life to its fullest, surrounded by the warmth of family and the joys of friendship. He will be profoundly missed but forever remembered.

He is preceded in death by his parents Antonio Sr. and Martha Martinez; a son Antonio Raul Martinez and a brother Freddy Martinez.

He is survived by his sons Ruben Anthony Martinez and Juan Antonio Martinez (Gabrielle) both of Lubbock; daughters Melissa Ann Garcia (Richard) of Lubbock, Sophia Renee Martinez of Lubbock and Amanda Ann Ruiz (Dennis) of Virginia; brothers Magdeleno Martinez and Danny Martinez both of Lubbock; a sister Norma Reina of Lubbock; seven grandchildren; and his beloved dog "Honey".

Viewing and visitation for Mr. Antonio Martinez Jr. will begin 11:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Broadway Funeral Directors Chapel with a rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. the same evening. Funeral Mass will begin 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 29, 2026, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Martin Pina officiating. Cremation arrangements were made under the direction of Broadway Funeral Directors.
