Anita Martinez

April 13, 1931 — December 12, 2025

Lubbock

Anita Martinez, a beloved matriarch and dedicated community member, passed away peacefully at her residence on December 12, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on April 13, 1931, in Fredericksburg, Texas. Anita embodied a spirit of resilience and commitment throughout her life.

Anita dedicated an impressive fifty-three years of her career to National Linen Services in Lubbock, where her work ethic and professionalism set a standard for those around her. Her colleagues and friends admired not just her contributions but also her warmth and kindness that she extended to everyone she encountered.

A devout Catholic, Anita was deeply committed to her faith. She engaged in daily rosary prayers and was an active member of her church, where she nurtured her spiritual life and connected with her community.

Anita cherished her family immensely, finding joy in the moments spent with them, particularly her great-grandchildren, Mason Santos and Catalina Gorostiza. She took great pleasure in enjoying Novelas, Tom Selleck on the show Blue Bloods and the show Face the Nation. Often using these shows as conversation starters with her loved ones. Her family remembers her laughter and the warmth she brought into their lives, qualities that will forever resonate in their hearts.

She joins her parents, Norberto and Cayetana Martinez; her husband, Henry Silva; and her children, Edward Silva and Teresa Landeros, in eternal rest. Anita's love and legacy will continue through her family, who are grateful for the time shared, and the memories created with such a remarkable woman.

Anita is survived by her son, Jamey Silva of Lubbock; daughters, Rosie Betancourt of Slaton, Ester Gorostiza of Lubbock, Agnes Garza of Wylie, and Elizabeth Lindsey of Austin; sister, Rosa Rocha of Slaton; twenty-six grandchildren; fifty-one great grandchildren and eleven great great grandchildren.
